If your skin doesn't get along with silicone primers, the makeup aisle has mostly been shrugging at you. Nearly every smoothing primer buys its glide with dimethicone or a cousin, and on a lot of acne-prone and sensitive skin that film is exactly the problem: it pills over layered skincare and sits on reactive skin all day. This formula rebuilds the primer without the ingredient, not without the job.

The slip
Silicone's job in a primer is glide and even spread. Here that job goes to hydrogenated polyisobutene and a 5% dose of cetyl ethylhexanoate, light esters that spread the same way without laying down a silicone film. Nothing to pill when you layer it over serum and sunscreen.

The hydration
Primers usually trade moisture away to grip makeup. This one is dosed like a moisturizer: 9% butylene glycol pulls water into the skin, 5% squalane (the lipid your skin already makes) holds it there, and shea butter seals the edges. That is why the brand calls it skincare and makeup in one, and why it suits the dry, uneven skin that mattifying primers punish.

The blur
2% titanium dioxide and two iron oxides form a sheer pink veil that scatters light, so pores and rough texture read visibly softer the moment you blend. The wear

1. Apply as the final step of your skincare routine: after sunscreen, before makeup.
2. Dispense a small amount (a chickpea-sized dose covers the full face) and dot over forehead, cheeks, nose and chin.
3. Blend gently outward with fingertips, pressing a little extra into zones where pores show most (nose, inner cheeks).
4. Give it a minute to set before foundation so the film formers can lock in.
5. On no-makeup days, wear it alone: the blur and tone-up work without anything on top.
6. Close the cap securely after use. Caution: stop using and seek medical treatment if any signs of abnormality appear.
